Zion Park is situated in north western Utah in the middle of slot canyon country. If you're thinking about flying in from the different region or country to go to the Grand Circle or simply Zion Park, your best choice would be to fly into Vegas, Nevada and rent a vehicle in the McCarran Airport Terminal consolidated rental facility. (A totally free taxi will give you back and forth from the airport terminal.) Vegas lives from tourism so it's usually quite simple to find affordable plane tickets and vehicle rental fees. It's roughly a 3-hour drive from Vegas to Zion Park.

The map below shows the main freeways and streets that connect Zion Park along with other points of interest within the surrounding areas:

  • Originating from Vegas:
Take Interstate 15 (I-15) north from Vegas for roughly 130 miles. Just beyond the busy capital of scotland- St. George, Utah, leave at Exit 16 and follow Route 9 east. Follow Route 9 for 25 miles because it winds through several cities including Hurricane, La Verkin, Virgin, and Rockville before you get to Springdale, the gateway to Zion Park.
  • From the North:
Take Interstate 15 (I-15) south to Exit 27 (Toquerville) and follow Route 17 for six miles until it joins track of Route 9 in La Verkin. Take Route 9 east in to the hillsides. After driving roughly 19 miles and passing with the cities of Virgin and Rockville, you'll get to Springdale, the gateway to Zion Park.
  • From the East:
For those travelling from Bryce, the Grand Canyon, or other place to the east, take Route 89 towards the village of Mt. Carmel Junction, then mind west on Route 9. After roughly 12 miles, you'll achieve the eastern border of Zion Park. (Entrance fee needed.) Once around the block, you'll be treated to some stunning drive-thru amazing slickrock scenery, concluding having a drive-thru the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel and arrival within the lower primary canyon and Springdale towards the south.
IMPORTANT: If you're thinking about driving an extra-large vehicle or large mobile home along Route 9 through Zion Park, please visit the NPS page on Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel escorts.

Note: Past the well-known nature of Zion, Bryce, and also the Grand Canyon, several less-popular points of interest will also be worth exploration, including Cedar plank Breaks National Monument towards the north, Barrier Pink Sand Dunes Condition Park around the east side, and Snow Canyon Condition Park northwest of St. George.
